  • 1 cup Vinegar
  • 1 cup Water Adjust consistency as needed

Equipment

Method

How to Make
  1. Prep the Ribs: Take 3 pounds of bone-in short ribs out of the refrigerator and let them rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  2. Season Generously: Sprinkle kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper all over the ribs.
  3. Sear the Ribs: In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of avocado oil over medium-high heat. Sear the short ribs for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Sauté Aromatics: Transfer the seared ribs to your slow cooker. In the same skillet, sauté sliced medium yellow onion and minced garlic for 4 minutes.
  5. Mix Sauce Ingredients: In a bowl, stir together soy sauce, brown sugar, black peppercorns, and bay leaves. Pour this mixture over the ribs.
  6. Add Vinegar: Pour in the vinegar directly onto the ribs without stirring.
  7. Cook Low and Slow: Allow the short ribs to cook for 6-8 hours on low or 4-5 hours on high.
  8. Serve with Love: Once cooked, skim off any excess oil from the sauce and serve hot over jasmine rice or garlic fried rice.
