Ingredients
  

For the Dough
  • 2 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast or instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar optional
  • 1 cup Warm Water 100°F to 110°F
  • 3 cups All-Purpose Flour can substitute with whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon Salt reduce if watching sodium intake
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil can substitute with butter or mild oil
For Serving
  • Your Favorite Dips like hummus or tzatziki

Method
 

Main Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Allow to sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add all-purpose flour, salt, and olive oil to the bowl. Stir until a cohesive dough forms.
  3. Turn out the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Transfer dough to a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled.
  5. Punch down the dough, divide into 8 pieces, and roll each into circles about 1/4-inch thick.
  6. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook each pita for 1-2 minutes per side until puffed and golden.
  7. Wrap cooked pitas in a clean kitchen towel to keep warm until serving.

Notes

Optional: Serve with a sprinkle of za'atar for extra flavor.
