Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two round baking pans.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and sugar; stir well.
- In another bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract until smooth. Fold into dry ingredients.
- Divide the batter among smaller bowls, tint with food coloring, and create polka dots in the greased pans.
- Pour remaining chocolate batter over colored dollops and bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely; frost as desired.
Notes
For vibrant colors, use gel food coloring instead of liquid. Also, allow the cake to cool completely before frosting for best results.
