  • 1 pound Beef Thinly sliced, well-marbled
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce Low-sodium preferred
  • 2 tablespoons Mirin or Sake Substitute white wine with sugar if necessary
  • 2 tablespoons Brown Sugar Honey or maple syrup can substitute
  • 2 cloves Garlic Freshly minced
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger Fresh root best, ground ginger okay
For the Rice
  • 2 cups Rice Fluffy white rice, rinse well
For the Garnish
  • 2 stalks Green Onions Chopped

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Thinly slice the beef against the grain.
  2. Mince the garlic and ginger.
Cooking
  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until clear; cook according to package instructions.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, mirin or sake, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat; sear beef for about 3 minutes.
  4. Pour sauce over beef, simmer for roughly 5 minutes.
  5. Fluff rice with a fork, serve beef mixture on top, and garnish with chopped green onions.

Notes

Optional: Add steamed vegetables like bok choy or carrots for extra nutrition.
