Instructions
  1. Prepare Ingredients: Gather your ingredients for efficiency. Thinly slice the beef against the grain and chop the garlic and ginger finely.
  2. Cook Rice: Rinse the rice under cold water until clear. Cook according to package directions until fluffy and sticky, about 20 minutes.
  3. Make Sauce: In a medium bowl, combine soy sauce, sake or mirin, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger. Whisk until well mixed and sugar is dissolved.
  4. Sear Beef: Heat a tablespoon of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced beef, cooking for about 3 minutes until browned but not fully cooked.
  5. Combine Everything: Pour the sauce over the seared beef and simmer for about 5 minutes to meld flavors and finish cooking the beef.
  6. Serve Creation: Fluff the cooked rice and top with the beef mixture, drizzle with sauce, and garnish with green onions.

Notes

Optional: Sprinkle sesame seeds or chili flakes for extra flavor and garnish. Marinate beef for better flavor and tenderness. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
