How to Make the Irresistible Classic Comfort Patty Melt
- Thinly slice your onions and cook them in butter over medium heat for 15-20 minutes until they become golden brown and sweet.
- Take the ground beef and divide it into equal portions. Shape each into patties that are slightly larger than the slices of bread.
- In a skillet, heat some butter over medium-high heat. Season your patties with salt and pepper before placing them in the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side until browned.
- Place a cooked patty on a slice of rye bread, top it with caramelized onions and a slice of Swiss cheese, and finish with another slice of bread.
- In the same skillet, add more butter and grill your sandwiches for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden and crispy.
- Slice your sandwiches diagonally and serve them hot with a side of fries or salad.
Notes
Optional: Serve with crispy onion rings for extra crunch.
