Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. Brown the Meat: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or sausage until fully cooked. Drain fat and add marinara sauce.
  3. Mix the Cheese: In a large bowl, combine ricotta, half of the mozzarella, parmesan, eggs, and Italian seasoning. Stir until creamy.
  4. Layer the Dish: In a greased baking dish, layer half of the meat sauce, macaroni, and cheese mixture. Repeat until all ingredients are used.
  5. Top and Bake: Sprinkle remaining mozzarella and optional parmesan on top. Cover with foil and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until golden.
  6. Rest and Serve: Let the mac and cheese rest for a few minutes before serving.

Garnish with freshly chopped parsley or basil for added color and flavor.
