How to Make
- Chop the broccoli into bite-sized pieces and finely dice the onion and carrots.
- Melt unsalted butter over medium heat in a large pot. Add the diced onions and carrots, and simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Stir in minced garlic and let it cook for about a minute. Sprinkle vegetables with flour and stir to coat.
- Gradually pour in the chicken broth while stirring continuously. Bring to a gentle simmer and add broccoli. Cook for around 10 minutes.
- Reduce heat to low, stir in heavy cream, and gradually add grated cheddar cheese until melted.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot with optional toppings.
Notes
For a delightful finish, garnish with freshly cracked black pepper if desired.
