Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease two heart-shaped cake pans with unsalted butter or non-stick spray, dust with flour.
- In a bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Beat the softened unsalted butter until creamy, then gradually add granulated sugar until fluffy.
- Incorporate the eggs one at a time, mixing well, then add vanilla extract.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture, alternating with milk, stirring gently.
- Pour the batter into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool on wire racks for about 10 minutes before removing from pans. Cool completely before frosting.
