Preparation
- Slice assorted vegetables into uniform pieces and pat dry with a paper towel.
- In a mixing bowl, combine tempura mix, flour, cornstarch, salt, baking powder, and ice-cold water. Mix gently.
- Pour oil into a medium pot and heat it to around 400°F.
- Dip vegetables into batter and fry in small batches for 3-5 minutes until golden brown.
- Mix bonito soy sauce with water and heat until boiling. Remove from heat and stir in sugar.
Notes
Serve immediately for best crispiness. Optionally sprinkle with sesame seeds.
